August 19th, 2002

The goal of the challenge is to raise funds for the maintenance of the Blue Streak, a historic wooden roller coaster. Last year's riders rode 192 times and raised $3,300.
This year the Preservation Society hopes to double that amount.

Riders participating in this year's event will attempt to endure 12 hours of  continuous riding on the Blue Streak, with only a few short meal breaks.

Proceeds from last year's challenge will be used to paint the Blue Streak. Volunteers from the American Coaster Enthusiasts, National Amusement Park Historical Society and Conneaut Lake Park Preservation Society the Blue Streak will spend the last three weekends of April painting the wooden roller coaster.

If you're interested in helping paint the Blue Streak, the Preservation Society is looking for more volunteers. Conneaut Lake Park will provide free lodging to all volunteers.
